Do you have a minor cosmetic problem that makes you feel hesitant to smile? Whether it is stained teeth that do not respond to teeth whitening efforts, a large gap between your two front teeth, a cracked tooth, or another common problem, a dental veneer can disguise it. Dental veneers are just one of several cosmetic dentistry services we offer at the dental practice of Dr. Wright, Dr. Massie, and Dr. Lincoln in Union, Kentucky.
What Are Veneers?
A dental veneer is a thin shell made from tooth-colored materials and customized for each patient. The veneer adheres to the front of your tooth to disguise your specific cosmetic issue, making them most appropriate for the forward-facing teeth in the center of your mouth.
What to Expect with Your New Dental Veneer
First, your dentist creates a model of your teeth and adds it to your treatment plan. A laboratory technician creates your customized veneer based on the notes and photos provided by your dentist.
You will need to have a small amount of tooth enamel removed from the tooth in question before your dentist can place the veneer. If we did not remove tooth enamel, the treated tooth would appear bulky and stand out from the others. Your dentist may also advise you to avoid certain foods after placing your new veneer to avoid staining or chipping it.
An important thing to keep in mind about getting a dental veneer is that the process is irreversible due to the removal of a small portion of tooth enamel. Please do not hesitate to contact our Union, Kentucky dental practice with additional questions or to schedule a consultation.
